Did you get your power bill yet this month? It probably did not go down, did it! In fact, energy bills never seem to stop escalating. Our dependence on power companies is without question, that is unless we decide to question it. Why am I paying so much for electricity? Must I depend on the power company monopolies for heat, air conditioning, pumping water - or for the vast number of other things we use daily that consume power? Are there any really good, yet affordable options out there?
Maybe you've seen the options many have chosen, perhaps in your own neighborhood. Solar panels across roof-tops, in back yards, on homes, shops, businesses, etc. Anywhere that uses power. Wind mills are also growing in popularity. These turbines have been used in other countries for centuries. But it has taken a near power crisis, and vast destruction of major resources, for the U.S. and some other "developed" nations to come around. In the meantime, we get to pay the high power bills.
Using "green power", or "going off the grid", have become synonymous with freeing ourselves from the grip of major utility companies, greatly reducing our monthly bills, even totally eliminating them. Well, how about this? - why not make the power company pay us! It can be done, and it is being done. But when I first began checking into green energy, I had the idea that it would be very difficult and expensive to do. Not so. Like anything else, with some pretty simple instructions, anyone can make their own solar panels, install and integrate them into your home, shop, business, campsite, job sites - wherever you need power.
The same is true of wind turbines. I personally didn't have a clue that I could build one myself, and build it so cheap. A wind turbine (wind mill) and solar panels that would actually produce energy, save me money, even make me money. It really can be done. It is being done by many, and you can do it also.
I find it fascinating that plans, detailed instructions, and very simple step by step methods to build our own energy efficient systems are so available. Your power company's not gonna tell you that. But thousands have learned how to build these energy saving systems themselves. There really is no need to rely so much on the big power companies, the giants who bank our money every day.
Easy green power can be easily installed and integrated by just about anyone. There are simple methods whereby solar panels can be built in just a couple hours. A windmill can be built in 2 hours or less. It really requires minimal skills. If you know where to look, and what to look for - materials are readily available and very reasonable.
To buy a solar system and have it installed can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 or more. Wind mills or turbine power can be expensive also. Solar panels and wind mills can be easily built by yourself, quickly, and for a tiny fraction of what they normally cost. Such systems create enormous savings for those who build their own (or even pay someone to do it). Harnessing the wind and the sun for our power saves precious resources and cuts down on pollutants.
Personally, I sure like the idea of putting more money in my pocket instead of paying it to the power company. Some take it a step further, and let the power company pay them.
Everything you could want to know about building your own solar and wind energy systems, I have found in one place.
